We had a big order from Ralph Lauren for their London Tweed Run, a vintage-style cycle ride starting at their smart Covent Garden store, which drew entrants in all manner of Tweed clothing.

We provided Union Jack bunting for the Tweed Run in New York earlier in the year, and it was good to have Ralph Lauren back needing bunting in their trademark colours. It did all look rather lovely and a number of fashion photographers used it is a backdrop for their shots too!

We have been enjoying the gorgeous Autumn sunshine here at Zigzag barn and taking advantage of the colours to hang out our new Vintage-Dyed St. George's cross bunting. This is a great bunting for supporting English teams but the bright white and red are not everyone's cuppa, so we have hand-dyed a batch to give this elegant vintage-effeect. Love it!

The ideal bunting to hang out for the Olympics, Rugby World Cup, Cricket matches... in fact any time you want to show your support for England. And for St. George's Day what better bunting to show the world?

We made up and dispatched lots and lots of Union Jack buntings, both natural and with a vintage-effect dye, to Canada, Tokyo, Paris, USA and France, to businesses in London (including Shoon, Liberty's, Linley's and Agent Provocateur) and to some closer to home including Stockbridge's classy new bistro, Stokes, where we enjoyed a delicious Wedding Breakfast this morning.

More Zigzag Bunting on Display at the NEC

We took a day out last week to visit the Stitches Trade Show at Birmingham's NEC to source some new fabrics and see what else is going on in the craft world.

I managed to find some beautiful new fabrics for Zigzag, and chanced upon a stand decorated with some familiar bunting:

The Historical Sampler Company had requested some bunting that would match their delightful samplers in their soft wood frames, and ended up with some of our pretty 'Sweet Dots' bunting, together with lengths of fabric which they used as a backdrop to the pictures. Doesn't it look good?

It was a serendipitous meeting as neither the owners nor I knew the other would be there, and I must say they clearly had the most attractive stand. Do take a peek at their website to see their traditional sampler designs if you fancy a timeless embroidery project.

We have since had lots of orders for name bunting to welcome new babies and as gorgeous gifts for girls, though the magazine managed to mangle our telephone number, so only the intrepid are getting through!

Eastenders Weddings feature Zigzag Bunting

We knew the BBC would be screening the episode of Eastenders shot using our bunting sometime this week: what a treat to find that our lovely red and cerise bunting graced not one but two weddings yesterday evening!

First The Queen Vic was decked out with our Bells & Tassels bunting around the bar, and Bespoke Bunting elsewhere for a surprise wedding party

We have just been asked by Riverford Organics (suppliers of fresh veg boxes across the country) to make them some bunting for their Yurt. They have a Travelling Field Kitchen roaming the country this summer cooking up fantastic dishes from their seasonal fresh produce, and we are definitely going to try it out, having found that one of their farms, Norton Farm, is just down the road from us here in Longparish. Come and be seduced by beautiful bunting and delicious food in a traditional yurt, now that really is dining with a difference!

I have just finished making this lovely commission for bunting in shades of coral and peach with black check: I think I have done them proud!

We had none of these fabrics in stock but I was able to make use of our sourcing contacts to track down fabrics and ribbon that fit the bill, and since they wanted to bring in an extra touch of black I finished the flags with pretty zigzag stitching. It just goes to show that you can match just about any colour scheme with beautiful bunting.

A quick peek at our very-weathered My Colours bunting: this has been out in the wind, sun, rain and now SNOW since last February, as we have been testing to see how it weathers. Not bad we reckon!

Hampshire has had a glorious few days of snow and beauty, we are so lucky to have everywhere looking so pretty. Charity Bunting

Our bunting gets to some interesting places! This is our Vintage Union Jack bunting gracing the Calendar Girls raising money for that great charity Help for Heroes. They had a Fifties-themed event to launch their 2010 calendar at the Hard Rock Cafe in London, the models all posing in vintage undies, and plenty of lovely music to tempt that cash from the pockets.

Our bunting went hotfoot to another fundraiser for the same charity, so we are doing our bit to support the guys: if you want to do the same pop into the Heroes website for information.

We have had plenty of interest in our lovely jingly Bells and Tassels bunting since it appeared both in Saga magazine and Easy Living this month! We just love making up this bunting: our friends at the women's charity in India make up the flags for us, and we sew them together and package them up here in Hampshire whilst they jingle merrily. Even the postman asked us what was in these jingly packages!

Winchester Wanderings

I grabbed a few minutes to walk around Winchester yesterday whilst stocking up on Laura Ashley fabrics for some Christening bunting, and enjoyed seeing my bunting on display in the shop window of John Lewis of Hungerford and Shoon.

The reflections make this one hard to see but in real life this stripy fabric worked really well. I love the way shops are using so much bunting this summer, and when it is made in fabric it gives a great effect.

Our local Shoon store in Winchester is using our Zigzag stripey bunting in their display again this month: we made a whole load for their Head Office a while back for distribution to their stores, so it is lovely to see our bunting up and looking good in the shop.

We have also sent a batch of vintage-effect Union Jack bunting to the French Connection flagship store on the King's Road in London for their new display (hopefully they will send us some pictures, we haven't had a chance to get up there ourselves to see our bunting in action).

Latest news: Zigzag Bunting is being made for dispatch to the Eastenders' recording studios, so perhaps we will be on the little screen once more!

Where did that time go? We were busy right up until Christmas with bunting orders and are already sending out orders for Spring Weddings. A lot of our lovely Union Jack bunting has been weaving its way through the post too and we have had some charming feedback from happy customers.

It looks as though Teal is becoming a popular colour for this year, and we have just completed some personalised wedding bunting in teal and ivory. Our plan is to find some more lovely fabrics in this colour as it does look gorgeous for special occasions.

Burnley Bunting for the BBC

We have just dispatched a Bespoke package of bunting in Burnley Football Club colours to the BBC for a recording later this week: watch out for Zigzag bunting on programme six of 'The Speaker' BBC2 in February/March. Remember we can make this bunting in any combination of plain colours for you, SO much nicer to have fabric bunting than tacky plastic.

We have lots of requests about personalising bunting for birthdays, weddings and special gifts. All our lettering is cut by hand from co-ordinating fabric, so you can have any effect you like: we have made bunting with bold lettering for sales events, soft and feminine lettering for girly bedrooms, and everything in between. Your personalised bunting will be truly individual.

Butterflies and Blues

I am in the middle of making some gorgeous bunting for a bride getting married soon in New Zealand, and just had to show you the colours. This is about half of the mixture of lilacs and blues that she has asked for, with a floral and butterfly theme. It is going to look wonderful!

Plus we are adding to our Nautical Mini Buntings, with a couple of boat-themed buntings for all you jolly sailors (and they would look great too for a beach house!)

Gingham Rose Buntings

I haven't put any of our cute gingham mini-buntings on the website yet, but they look so sweet I wanted you to see them. These are made from Laura Ashley fabrics and look wonderful in the nursery, or for parties, christenings and other occasions.

Gorgeous Fabric Hearts

We are going even more green here at Zigzag, making sure we use every last bit of our lovely cotton fabrics.

Our latest idea is to make these gorgeous padded hearts, which can be used as wedding favours or door hangers for pretty bedrooms. Aren't they cute? We have filled them with pure cotton wadding from another local business here in the Test Valley, and have raided Grandma's button box for some charming buttons.

The hearts can be spritzed with your favourite scent, and we plan to make some more filled with lavender. What a lovely gift idea!

Union Jack Bunting

I have just finished an order for lots of lovely double-sided cotton bunting in our Union Jack fabric, destined for the Royal Exchange Theatre's Christmas production. This has all been antiqued to give a 1950's feel and really came out a treat !

This was our first time making the bunting flags rectangular rather than triangular, and left us with lots of smaller offcuts of fabric, so now I am going to design some new mini-bunting in this style: watch this space.

Hello and welcome, we have finally made it to the blogosphere and can give you a peek behind the scenes at our busy Zigzag workshop.

I am looking forward to keeping you up to date with our latest fabrics and designs, the website is just too slow to keep track of all the lovely bunting we are making, and we have some gorgeous fabrics just waiting to be sewn up for you!
